Egypt T-bill auction, 29 March 2022: 364-day at 13.39%, up 24 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 March 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.49% (up 16 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.83% (up 51 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.39% (up 24 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 32.1bn against EGP 21.5bn on offer, 149% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.9bn was accepted.
At 13.39%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.36%, so the government is paying 4 basis points more than twelve months ago.
