Egypt T-bill auction, 22 February 2022: 364-day at 13.22%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 February 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.32% (down 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.10% (down 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 13.22% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 52.0bn against EGP 23.0bn on offer, 226% of the amount sought, and EGP 26.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 13.38%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.17%, so the government is paying 5 basis points more than twelve months ago.
