Egypt T-bill auction, 1 February 2022: 364-day at 13.21%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 February 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.34% (up 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.10% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 13.21% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 57.6bn against EGP 21.5bn on offer, 268% of the amount sought, and EGP 31.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 13.38%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.00%, so the government is paying 21 basis points more than twelve months ago.
