Egypt T-bill auction, 22 June 2021: 364-day at 13.20%, down 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 June 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.13% (up 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.34% (down 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.20% (down 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 57.4bn against EGP 27.5bn on offer, 209% of the amount sought, and EGP 30.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.67% to 13.84%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.45%, so the government is paying 75 basis points more than twelve months ago.
