Egypt T-bill auction, 25 May 2021: 364-day at 13.34%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 25 May 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.16% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 13.39% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 13.34% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 57.4bn against EGP 27.5bn on offer, 209% of the amount sought, and EGP 36.1bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.45% to 13.84%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.51%, so the government is paying 83 basis points more than twelve months ago.
