Egypt T-bill auction, 11 May 2021: 364-day at 13.36%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 May 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.16% (up 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 13.39% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 13.36% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 54.3bn against EGP 27.5bn on offer, 197% of the amount sought, and EGP 36.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.45% to 13.84%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.60%, so the government is paying 76 basis points more than twelve months ago.
