Egypt T-bill auction, 23 March 2021: 364-day at 13.36%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 23 March 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.08% (up 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.39% (up 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.36% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 59.8bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 213% of the amount sought, and EGP 24.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 13.84%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.71%, so the government is paying 136 basis points less than twelve months ago.
