Egypt T-bill auction, 9 March 2021: 364-day at 13.29%, up 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 March 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.99% (up 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.32% (up 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.29% (up 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 65.0bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 232% of the amount sought, and EGP 22.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 14.71%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.09%, so the government is paying 79 basis points less than twelve months ago.
