Egypt T-bill auction, 24 November 2020: 364-day at 13.36%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 November 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.13% (up 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 13.24% (down 5 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.36% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 66.2bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 236% of the amount sought, and EGP 19.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 14.93%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.72%, so the government is paying 136 basis points less than twelve months ago.
