Egypt T-bill auction, 29 September 2020: 364-day at 13.60%, down 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 September 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.15% (down 30 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.52% (down 5 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.60% (down 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 61.5bn against EGP 27.5bn on offer, 223% of the amount sought, and EGP 36.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 15.52%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.92%, so the government is paying 132 basis points less than twelve months ago.
