Egypt T-bill auction, 15 September 2020: 364-day at 13.65%, up 10 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 September 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.43% (up 13 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.58% (up 10 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.65% (up 10 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 54.4bn against EGP 27.5bn on offer, 198% of the amount sought, and EGP 21.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 15.52%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.19%, so the government is paying 254 basis points less than twelve months ago.
