Egypt T-bill auction, 25 August 2020: 364-day at 13.84%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 25 August 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.53% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 13.68% (up 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 13.84% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 68.1bn against EGP 29.0bn on offer, 235% of the amount sought, and EGP 44.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 16.26%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.50%, so the government is paying 366 basis points less than twelve months ago.
