Egypt T-bill auction, 4 August 2020: 364-day at 13.69%, up 10 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 August 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.55% (up 13 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.57% (up 12 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.69% (up 10 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 39.4bn against EGP 27.5bn on offer, 143% of the amount sought, and EGP 31.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 17.50%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.21%, so the government is paying 352 basis points less than twelve months ago.
