Egypt T-bill auction, 17 March 2020: 364-day at 14.71%, up 70 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 March 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.89% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 14.31% (down 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 14.71% (up 70 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 26.1bn against EGP 24.5bn on offer, 106% of the amount sought, and EGP 10.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.64% to 17.50%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.61%, so the government is paying 290 basis points less than twelve months ago.
