Egypt T-bill auction, 31 December 2019: 364-day at 14.58%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 31 December 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.06% (down 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.01% (down 20 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.58% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 49.8bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 178% of the amount sought, and EGP 25.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.57% to 19.76%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.98%, so the government is paying 540 basis points less than twelve months ago.
