Egypt T-bill auction, 17 December 2019: 364-day at 14.86%, down 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 December 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.49% (down 5 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.49% (down 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.86% (down 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 59.9bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 214% of the amount sought, and EGP 32.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.68% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.98%, so the government is paying 511 basis points less than twelve months ago.
