Egypt T-bill auction, 3 December 2019: 364-day at 14.87%, up 20 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 December 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.48% (up 13 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.55% (up 10 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.87% (up 20 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 29.5bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 105% of the amount sought, and EGP 16.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.68% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.92%, so the government is paying 505 basis points less than twelve months ago.
