Egypt T-bill auction, 19 November 2019: 364-day at 14.72%, down 31 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 November 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.38% (down 50 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.34% (down 46 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.72% (down 31 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 51.5bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 184% of the amount sought, and EGP 30.6bn was accepted.
At 14.72%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.78%, so the government is paying 506 basis points less than twelve months ago.
