Egypt T-bill auction, 30 July 2019: 364-day at 17.21%, up 20 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 July 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 17.89% (up 15 basis points), the 182-day bill at 17.74% (up 25 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.21% (up 20 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 32.9bn against EGP 28.3bn on offer, 116% of the amount sought, and EGP 20.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 17.00% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.13%, so the government is paying 192 basis points less than twelve months ago.
