Egypt T-bill auction, 4 June 2019: 364-day at 17.34%, up 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 June 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 17.73% (up 14 basis points), the 182-day bill at 17.64% (up 18 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.34% (up 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 33.6bn against EGP 27.3bn on offer, 123% of the amount sought, and EGP 18.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 17.00% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.55%, so the government is paying 121 basis points less than twelve months ago.
