Egypt T-bill auction, 5 March 2019: 364-day at 17.72%, up 62 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 March 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 17.78% (up 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 17.85% (up 48 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.72% (up 62 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 52.4bn against EGP 26.5bn on offer, 198% of the amount sought, and EGP 22.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.55% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.83%, so the government is paying 90 basis points more than twelve months ago.
