Egypt T-bill auction, 16 October 2018: 364-day at 19.82%, up 13 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 16 October 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 19.86% (up 11 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.88% (up 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 19.82% (up 13 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 39.8bn against EGP 28.5bn on offer, 140% of the amount sought, and EGP 29.4bn was accepted.
At 19.82%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.45%, so the government is paying 137 basis points more than twelve months ago.
