Egypt T-bill auction, 18 September 2018: 364-day at 19.30%, up 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 September 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 19.43% (up 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.50% (up 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 19.30% (up 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 35.8bn against EGP 25.0bn on offer, 143% of the amount sought, and EGP 29.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.43% to 19.44%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.83%, so the government is paying 47 basis points more than twelve months ago.
