Egypt T-bill auction, 28 November 2017: 364-day at 17.99%, up 16 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 November 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 18.87% (up 24 basis points), the 182-day bill at 18.64% (up 11 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.99% (up 16 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 40.3bn against EGP 19.8bn on offer, 204% of the amount sought, and EGP 26.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 17.65% to 21.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.61%, so the government is paying 38 basis points more than twelve months ago.
