Egypt T-bill auction, 19 September 2017: 364-day at 18.71%, down 12 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 September 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 18.86% (down 11 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.11% (down 11 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.71% (down 12 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 59.4bn against EGP 19.8bn on offer, 301% of the amount sought, and EGP 23.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.42% to 21.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.11%, so the government is paying 260 basis points more than twelve months ago.
