Egypt T-bill auction, 1 August 2017: 364-day at 20.95%, down 75 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 August 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 20.77% (down 80 basis points), the 182-day bill at 21.18% (down 50 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 20.95% (down 75 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 58.2bn against EGP 20.0bn on offer, 291% of the amount sought, and EGP 23.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 15.82% to 21.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.74%, so the government is paying 521 basis points more than twelve months ago.
