Egypt T-bill auction, 20 June 2017: 364-day at 20.31%, up 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 June 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 20.24% (down 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 20.38% (up 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 20.31% (up 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 37.3bn against EGP 18.5bn on offer, 201% of the amount sought, and EGP 20.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 15.19% to 20.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.12%, so the government is paying 619 basis points more than twelve months ago.
