Egypt T-bill auction, 6 June 2017: 364-day at 20.49%, down 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 June 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 20.34% (down 18 basis points), the 182-day bill at 20.44% (down 22 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 20.49% (down 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 45.2bn against EGP 18.5bn on offer, 244% of the amount sought, and EGP 20.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.12% to 20.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.91%, so the government is paying 659 basis points more than twelve months ago.
