Egypt T-bill auction, 13 December 2016: 364-day at 18.62%, up 11 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 13 December 2016, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 18.51% (up 27 basis points), the 182-day bill at 18.73% (up 14 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.62% (up 11 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 22.9bn against EGP 12.0bn on offer, 190% of the amount sought, and EGP 12.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.13% to 18.90%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.94%, so the government is paying 668 basis points more than twelve months ago.
