Egypt T-bill auction, 29 November 2016: 364-day at 18.03%, up 43 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 November 2016, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 18.19% (up 44 basis points), the 182-day bill at 18.26% (up 54 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.03% (up 43 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 25.0bn against EGP 13.8bn on offer, 182% of the amount sought, and EGP 14.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.13% to 18.90%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.94%, so the government is paying 609 basis points more than twelve months ago.
