Egypt T-bill auction, 2 December 2014: 364-day at 12.07%, down 4 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 December 2014, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.57% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 11.86% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 12.07% (down 4 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 19.9bn against EGP 9.5bn on offer, 209% of the amount sought, and EGP 9.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.74% to 12.52%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.37%, so the government is paying 69 basis points more than twelve months ago.
