Egypt T-bill auction, 18 November 2014: 364-day at 12.22%, up 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 November 2014, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.70% (up 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 11.93% (up 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.22% (up 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 20.9bn against EGP 9.5bn on offer, 220% of the amount sought, and EGP 9.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.74% to 12.52%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.28%, so the government is paying 94 basis points more than twelve months ago.
