Egypt T-bill auction, 4 November 2014: 364-day at 12.20%, down 10 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 November 2014, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.59% (up 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 11.94% (down 10 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.20% (down 10 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 24.6bn against EGP 9.5bn on offer, 258% of the amount sought, and EGP 9.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.74% to 12.52%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.17%, so the government is paying 103 basis points more than twelve months ago.
