Egypt T-bill auction, 29 April 2014: 364-day at 10.85%, up 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 April 2014, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.42% (up 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.71% (up 5 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.85% (up 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 13.2bn against EGP 8.0bn on offer, 165% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 15.41%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.58%, so the government is paying 373 basis points less than twelve months ago.
