Egypt T-bill auction, 14 January 2014: 364-day at 11.00%, down 13 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 January 2014, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.34% (down 5 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.81% (down 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.00% (down 13 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 22.9bn against EGP 8.5bn on offer, 269% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 15.41%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.32%, so the government is paying 332 basis points less than twelve months ago.
