Egypt T-bill auction, 20 August 2013: 364-day at 12.86%, up 18 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 August 2013, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.44% (up 18 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.38% (up 24 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.86% (up 18 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 13.3bn against EGP 8.5bn on offer, 156% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.69% to 15.95%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.85%, so the government is paying 298 basis points less than twelve months ago.
