Egypt T-bill auction, 4 September 2012: 364-day at 15.92%, down 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 September 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 14.15% (down 8 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.34% (down 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.92% (down 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 14.7bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 227% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.60% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.98%, so the government is paying 293 basis points more than twelve months ago.
