Egypt T-bill auction, 21 August 2012: 364-day at 15.93%, up 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 August 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 14.24% (up 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.35% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.93% (up 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 10.9bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 168% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.98% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.98%, so the government is paying 295 basis points more than twelve months ago.
