Egypt T-bill auction, 6 March 2012: 364-day at 15.95%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 March 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 14.89% (down 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.95% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 13.6bn against EGP 7.0bn on offer, 195% of the amount sought, and EGP 7.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.39% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.20%, so the government is paying 376 basis points more than twelve months ago.
