Egypt T-bill auction, 30 August 2011: 364-day at 12.98%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 August 2011, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.99% (up 7 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.55% (up 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.98% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 11.4bn against EGP 8.0bn on offer, 143% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.9bn was accepted.
At 12.98%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 44 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.47%, so the government is paying 251 basis points more than twelve months ago.
