Egypt T-bill auction, 2 August 2011: 364-day at 12.85%, up 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 August 2011, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.87% (up 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.42% (up 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.85% (up 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 12.1bn against EGP 7.5bn on offer, 161% of the amount sought, and EGP 7.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.25% to 12.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.83%, so the government is paying 202 basis points more than twelve months ago.
