Egypt T-bill auction, 15 February 2011: 91-day at 10.95%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 February 2011, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.95% (down 2 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 11.78% (up 30 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 12.2bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 188% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 8.68% to 10.97%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 9.77%, so the government is paying 118 basis points more than twelve months ago.
