Egypt T-bill auction, 22 June 2010: 364-day at 10.93%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 June 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.22% (down 5 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.54% (down 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.93% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 15.2bn against EGP 6.0bn on offer, 253% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.72% to 11.66%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.39%, so the government is paying 54 basis points more than twelve months ago.
