Egypt T-bill auction, 5 January 2010: 91-day at 9.99%, up 14 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 January 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.99% (up 14 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 10.94% (up 17 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 8.0bn against EGP 4.0bn on offer, 199% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 9.58% to 11.51%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 11.63%, so the government is paying 164 basis points less than twelve months ago.
