Egypt T-bill auction, 22 December 2009: 364-day at 11.47%, up 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 December 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.90% (up 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.62% (up 17 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.47% (up 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 11.1bn against EGP 7.0bn on offer, 158% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.72% to 11.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.66%, so the government is paying 19 basis points less than twelve months ago.
