Egypt T-bill auction, 22 September 2009: 364-day at 9.78%, down 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 September 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 364-day bill at 9.78% (down 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 7.2bn against EGP 3.0bn on offer, 239% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.0bn was accepted.
At 9.78%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 37 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.06%, so the government is paying 428 basis points less than twelve months ago.
