Egypt T-bill auction, 2 June 2009: 364-day at 10.33%, up 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 June 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.32% (up 14 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.12% (down 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 10.33% (up 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 8.9bn against EGP 5.0bn on offer, 177% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.25% to 14.80%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.25%, so the government is paying 9 basis points more than twelve months ago.
