Egypt T-bill auction, 31 March 2009: 91-day at 10.26%, down 26 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 31 March 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.26% (down 26 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 10.59% (down 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 3.0bn against EGP 2.5bn on offer, 122% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 5.87% to 14.03%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 5.73%, so the government is paying 453 basis points more than twelve months ago.
