Egypt T-bill auction, 4 November 2008: 364-day at 13.90%, up 69 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 November 2008, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 364-day bill at 13.90% (up 69 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 4.3bn against EGP 2.5bn on offer, 171% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.62% to 14.80%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.63%, so the government is paying 627 basis points more than twelve months ago.
