Egypt T-bill auction, 8 April 2008: 91-day at 6.75%, up 101 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 April 2008, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 6.75% (up 101 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 7.94% (down 18 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 10.2bn against EGP 2.0bn on offer, 508% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 4.91% to 8.04%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 8.29%, so the government is paying 154 basis points less than twelve months ago.
